Si c’est une fille draws its inspiration from what it means to be born a girl and become a woman in contemporary society. Through a series of scenes, this piece sensitively raises the question of the female body’s place in the social space, ultimate sublimating it.
It is an immersion into the engagement of bodies, their reactions to present-day forms of domination, and their representations across various cultures. How do we embody the power of sensuality? How can we magnify the beauty of modesty and vulnerability? How do we come to grips with our physical condition?
Through movement marked by both subtlety and an earthy energy, the dancers embody various figures of the female body, such as the mother, the goddess, or the witch…
In this piece where dance meets theater and song, there lies an unconditional desire to celebrate women and reveal their power. An essential and exhilarating manifesto.
