“From solitude comes connection. From intimacy springs the collective pact.”
Loneliness is a universal, profound, and sometimes painful experience. It can trap us, isolate us, and disconnect us. But it can also be a turning point: a space for introspection that opens us up to others and to the community. It is within this intimate, fragile, and powerful process that solidarity is born.
This transition from solitude to solidarity is a process of transformation—both personal and social. It involves navigating periods of doubt and daring to be vulnerable in order to gain a deeper understanding of oneself and others. It opens the door to empathy, connection, and shared commitment.
In *Mighty Pact*, I want to draw inspiration from the community celebrations I’ve experienced—particularly in West Africa—from the raw fervor of KRUMP battles, from the vibrant energy of concerts where bodies move in unison, and from spontaneous sing-alongs where the group becomes a source of support. In these spaces, I encountered an instinctive, spontaneous solidarity—free of artifice or judgment—a support embedded in the movement itself, in the shared rhythm.
My dance is shaped by hybridity, by encounters, and by the interactions between cultures and bodies. Through my experiences, I have come to understand how much a community can transform an individual, how much the collective can reveal the zest for life, reawaken joy, and give us the strength to carry on.
With this group piece, I seek to create a stage space—inviting six artists onto the stage—that serves as a living microcosm, a space for listening and support, a place of echo and resonance. A place where the act of dancing becomes a pact, a “mighty pact”: between oneself and others, between solitude and connection.
How can an act of solidarity—even a simple one—bring about a profound inner transformation? How can another person’s presence, voice, and energy inspire movement within us and through us?
This work is an invitation to collectively experience the power of this wave of solidarity.
