Through a synergy between dance and music, developed simultaneously, “W” blurs the line between a concert and a dance performance. The music is composed and improvised on the spot in response to the dance; the energetic dance features a physicality influenced by the movements of rock stars.
Two forms of energy—one of the body, the other of sound—that challenge the audience’s role and engagement
during a concert or performance, in the presence of an artist. What connections are formed?
Building on this starting point, “W” seeks to examine and observe our current relationships, which are “wireless”—
consisting solely of networks, vibrations, and waves.
How can we stay connected to the present? How can we understand others in this world that’s buzzing and racing by? Can a relationship exist without face-to-face contact, without physical closeness?
On stage, the two protagonists struggle to find one another amid a cacophony of connections,
represented by mounds of cables. In this world, the desire is to break the silence in order to
connect. The audible and the tangible become essential.
To reflect on the world through the connections that develop within it is to give oneself the opportunity to be attentive to
both its variations and diversity, and its unity and consistency.
