THIS IS NOT A WHITE WOMAN Created in 2014 Identity is given to us at birth, and little by little, it returns to us. Thus, we become “I,” and we shape this identity by subverting it, destroying it, or simply accepting it. But do we truly have the power to choose? Thought and identity change us. So, can we be “without” for a moment, return to the essence of things—flesh and muscle…? Through this solo, I seek a way to exorcise this identity. To dance something that happens between ideas. I wouldn’t want you to give me a name, nor to categorize me. How can we be what draws us in only to vanish? It is no longer about knowing the world or the self, but about transforming our ideas, to throw ourselves into the moment, right here, right now. To go on stage to be oneself without fear of the unknown, the vague, the unnameable. ALTTAï Creation 2021 This piece brings together three protagonists: the dancing body, the on-site landscape, and photography. First, the performance… Confronting dance with natural architecture (mountains, hills, plains…) is a poetic way to reconnect with our environment; to reflect on our relationship with nature, its resonance, and its impact on our movements, our sensations, and our listening. Without seeking to alter or reshape the landscape, I wish to adapt to what it offers me through its power, its harshness, its curves, its lines, its contours, its imposing forms, and its subtle details. The performance is a dancer-photographer duet, in which the audience also witnesses the photographer’s postural work and physical engagement. Following the performance, a photo exhibition… Photography emerges in the project as the unifying element between the body and the landscape. Furthermore, the enduring nature of photography allows us to question our capacity for contemplation and to revisit the images captured during the performance, discovering a different perspective on what we initially saw. A 2021 Creation This performance invites us to delve into the question of bodies—particularly female bodies—and their representations, by engaging with a specific space to draw inspiration from it and adapt to it. In relation to the arrangement of the exhibited works, the lighting, and the audience’s movement through the space, the performance takes shape through a combination of structure and improvisation. The figure of the woman is examined here to understand how she is perceived in symbolic, and sometimes historic, settings. The dancers weave together strength and poetry through various choreographic styles. With movements marked by both subtlety and an earthy energy, UNE expresses the need to celebrate our bodies, to embody and acknowledge our undeniable power. W Creation 2019 Through a synergy between dance and music, developed simultaneously, “W” blurs the line between a concert and a dance performance. The music is composed and improvised in the moment in response to the dance; the energetic dance features a physicality influenced by the movements of rock stars.Two energies—of flesh and sound—that challenge the audience’s role and engagement in a concert or performance, as they face an artist. What connections are formed? Taking this as its starting point, “W” questions and observes our current relationships, which are “wireless”—consisting only of networks, vibrations, and waves. How can we remain connected to the present? How can we understand one another in this world that crackles and fuses? Can a relationship exist without face-to-face contact, without physical closeness? On stage, the two protagonists strive to find one another amid a hubbub of connections, embodied by a tangle of cables. In this world, the desire is to break the silence in order to connect. What is audible and what is tangible become essential.
